Psychological aspects of color
Individual perception of color is the main riddle, which has not been explained by scientists till now. Everyone sees color differently and chooses the most suitable one from million shades. If certainly, you do not trust blindly to designers and interior magazines, you will choose the color independently. Copying of other interiors may lead to rather undesirable consequences. Bright-dark blue walls with a gold list very festively look in elegant palaces, but in small rooms they are capable to drive mad. Even very beautiful scarlet rose on a green bush and the walls, painted in these colors, without taking into account proportions, will looked painfully. If you decide to stake on contrast colors (red and green, violet and yellow, orange and blue) remember that for their harmonious combination of contrast color should be no more than 10 % of surface.
However, recommendations are not limited to it. Despite of individual color perception, of psychological researches show that it is more preferable to use light, green, greenish-yellow and beige tone for greater rooms. Paint walls in the wardrobe and built in cases in more intensive and even warm tomes. Blue, white and green colors are most psychologically comfortable for bathrooms. For a children’s room chartreuse and pink colors are recommended.
From the psychological point of view, the floor in the apartment should be in warm and not so light tones, as it visually makes it steadier. Besides, if the apartment or house is rather big, it is not recommended to use radical crises of tone, otherwise, it will simply break up to separate rooms and will not look as uniform vital space. Certainly, even one room can be visually divided into functional color zones, but do not use any sharp transitions because the basic tone should be the only one, as motive in a song.
