Gypsum cardboard for your walls

May 13th, 2007

Gypsum cardboard-represents plaster sheets covered with a thin, but a strong cardboard. Their length is 2,5-3,5 m., width - 1,2-1,3 m., and thickness - 8-10 mm.
In order to cover concrete walls with gypsum cardboard, it is necessary to beat preliminary to a wall concrete nails a skeleton from wooden boards. Before the beginning of work it is necessary to count precisely the sizes of a skeleton: it is important, that in places of joints of sheets of dry plaster the width of skeleton????????s wood strips was not less than 7,5 cm.
Vertical boards or wood strips are nailed up to the wall in length of 7 - 10 sm. If it is difficult to punch wall, it is necessary to drill apertures and to insert fuses, and to hammer nails on distance of no more than 50 cm from each other. Nail down sheets of gypsum cardboard you the prepared skeleton so that between them there was a space in 4-5 mm for the subsequent furnish of seams.
You should remember that there is extra empty space between gypsum cardboard and a wall that creates additional heat insulation. But dry plaster is completely not obligatory for beating to a wooden skeleton, which is taking away so precious centimeters of the living space.
It is possible to paste sheets to a wall by means of the so-called plaster test-mastic, consisting of building plaster and 2 %-s’ solutions of bone glue (glue is necessary so that the plaster would not harden at same moment). Having prepared mastic, outline it on a wall by means of spittle within the limits of the size of the gypsum cardboard leaf on distance of 35 - 40 cm from each other.
Gypsum cardboard is the best basis under wall-papers.
On edges of a leaf mastic arrange with continuous bed. Press gypsum cardboard to a wall and knock on it, leveling a surface.
If you can finish any ledge, a junction of external seams should be glued with strips of a gauze and should be carefully puttied. It is possible to close external corners with wooden or plastic corners. Seams between sheets should be filled with the plaster test.

Feng shui for children’s room

May 8th, 2007

The first half of house from a front entrance, where more active the energy is shown, connected with movement and growth, would be the most desirable place for the arrangement of children????????s room. But each concrete case has its own nuances.
Misbalance in the level of color of walls and furniture can negatively reflect on mental and, as consequence, a physical state of the child. For example, if the children????????s room is sustained in blue tones or, on the contrary, in pink. But each color has the vibration, a wave which enters a resonance with an organism of the child. So, blue color supports kidneys, pink - heart. That all bodies and systems of a children’s organism got harmonious support from the outside, a color variety is necessary. Hardly its absence will cause illness, but can aggravate already available problem.
If the child is older, it is necessary to allow the child to organize independently the space according to his own taste, in fact very often children appear hostages of expensive furniture or aesthetic tastes of their parents.
One room can approach more for a dream, and another one - for the activity: games or study. Sometimes it happens so, that both criterias are combined in one room. Certainly, if there is an opportunity to pick up to the child two functionally different rooms, it would be really the ideal situation. However even in a country house not each family has such opportunity. So, the main task of feng shui is to find the conciliatory proposal in any situation.
The ideal place for study - is when the child is sitting a back to a wall and a table is before him. Thus the child feels confidently and easy. All room and a door are in a zone of child????????s control. Child does not worry that adults can find him unawares. Such freedom allows concentrating.
The place of study will be even more comfortable if the child has a support from the left party: this party is weaker and a heart is located here. No sharp corners of cases or shelves should be directed on the child. The greater mistake - is to set the table directly at a window with the purpose to receive more natural light. The child will see how other children play football and the child would have no desire to study.
Depending on an arrangement of a room concerning the parties of light the feng shui expert can see, what qualities strengthen different directions. Some of them promote display of creative talents, others- studies, successful passing of examinations, etc.

Quartz wall-papers

May 5th, 2007

Quartz wall-papers represent wall-papers on a non-woven basis with the painted quartz sand or a wood fiber top layer. It is a decorating material without the synthetic components, made of natural products, therefore they are ecologically pure, and also possess a high degree of fire resistance.
Quartz wall-papers can be painted with any latex paint and if necessary to be recolor in any other color, having received thus desirable effect. Durability of wall-papers allows to hide defects of a wall (cracks, etc.), to provide exclusive stability to fretting and to mechanical damages. It is possible to brush away quartz wall-papers or to pass them with a vacuum cleaner with a nozzle - cylindrical long-piled brush.
The structure of quartz wall-papers allows creating the most unique style of premises.
At creation of interiors it is necessary to remember, that in the harmonious ensemble including the design of internal space, color and structure of decorating materials, furniture, these materials will take the worthy place.
Quartz wall-papers are the most suitable decorating materials for creation of individual interiors of premises. Unlike other decorating materials, presented in the modern market, these wall-papers allow to create both firm style of your office, and a coziness of your apartment.

Floor question (Part 3)

May 4th, 2007

Carpet warp - is a rolled carpet covering. Natural carpet warp is made of wool. The basis represents a grid from natural jute. This material possesses high warm- and sound-proof properties. However, the wool and jute easily absorb and keep water that often leads to damage of covering. Natural carpet warp is also easily trampled down and stores dents for a long time.

Polyamide (nylon), polypropylene, polyacryle and polyester are used for the manufacturing of artificial carpet warp. Coverings from nylon are soft, they well hold pile, they are easily cleaned, do not fade and they do not have dents from furniture. Other synthetic materials concede to nylon on their qualities. The way of manufacture both of natural and artificial carpet warps can be subdivided into three types: woven, taffetine and needled. Woven carpet warp is made by way at which fibers are bound with a basis. It is the strongest and most expensive variant. At taffetine way a string needle is fixed by means of glue. In such a way it is possible to create various kinds of a carpet covering - loop back (upwards eyelets), nap (upwards fibers) and their combinations. For manufacture of loop back carpet warp string should be painted in advance, that allows creating equal colors of a covering. Single-level (eyelets of identical length) loop back carpet warp can be easily cleaned. Multilevel ones have loops of different height that creates volumetric figure of surface. Such carpet warps look effectively, however it is much more difficult to clean them. Depending on length of loops and qualities of a string taffetine loop back carpet warp can be subdivided into some kinds. Loop back scroll carpets are made of yarn of several colors that allows creating complex figure and sculptural effect. Velour carpet has short cutting pile. It is very soft silky material; however on monophonic velour traces of steps and dirt are well appreciable. Frieze carpets are made of strongly twirled yarn. Due to the structure of carpets???????? pile a frieze allows to hide various pollutions. Needled way means “driving in” of nap bunches into the basis. This covering is almost smooth and it is reminding felt. Such carpet warp differs from waved or taffetine ones by higher wear resistance and smaller deformation susceptibility.
When you choose a floor covering, you should consider the following moments: it should be wear proof, moisture proof, it should resist to pressure and impacts and to possess good sound-proof properties.

Floor question (Part 2)

May 3rd, 2007

Laminate - a multilayered design with pasted atop of a plate from the paper layer simulating valuable breeds of a tree (an oak, a yew, a cherry) or a stone (a marble, a granite).???? Coverings from a laminate differ by high durability and wear resistance. The average term of exploitation - is fifteen - twenty years.
Ceramic tile - these are the products of various kinds and the sizes, made from the formed clay. It is one of the most wear proof finishing materials. Not glazed tile (one roasting) is applied at facing walls and a floor; glazed tile (double roasting) is used for walls decoration. The tile can be painted in weight or have only a decorative color layer. The impressive surface reduces sliding. More often the ceramic tile is applied in sanitary-engineering units and kitchens. It is a wear proof and durable decorative material.
The tile has high heat conductivity (so-called “a cold floor”); however this lack is successfully eliminated by means of artificial floor heating.
Stone plates are made from a marble or granite. Granite - is extremely firm material, differing by its water- and mud resistance. It has uniform figure and wide scale of shades. It ideally approaches for kitchen or hall decoration. Marble - is a crystal breed of white, pink, blue, green, black colors. Various shades can be gained owing to the maintenance various metals and graphite oxides. The main values of a marble are proveins which create original figure.
Ceramogranite- is the ceramic plates externally reminding a natural stone. They are water-proof, cold-resistant and wear-resistant.
Gold (Korean) tile - are the floor covering representing plates from natural stone and polymers. The material is water resistant, it is steady against household chemicals and it is easily cleaned. The term of use is defined with the quantity of steps which are to be made before the occurrence of first fretting attributes. Usually, it is about ten millions steps. In habitual variant ???????? it is about ten-fifteen years of exploitation.

Floor question (Part 1)

May 2nd, 2007

Today a wide assortment of floor coverings is represented in the market of building materials. In order not to be lost in their variety and to make a right choice, it is necessary to know basic characteristics of each kind of floor coverings.
Parquet - is type of floor covering, which is widely widespread in premises. It represents a wooden block from expensive breeds of a tree with a high density (an oak, a beech, a nut, etc.), laid by “square” or “cold check”. Ready parquet is covered with several layers of varnish. Each four years it is necessary to grind this covering with anew varnish. At correct care the parquet floor is capable to serve for more than thirty years.
Parquet board - it is a three-layer design from natural wood. As to the sizes it is possible to say that it reminds a board from a file, and figure of the top layer simulates piece parquet. It is ecologically pure natural material - it is strong enough, wear proof and durable. The top layer of a parquet board is made of valuable wood breeds - an oak, a beech, a nut, a maple, a birch, a cherry, a tic, an acacia, etc. This layer is responsible for the durability: the more thickly it is, the more polishing it can sustain. An average layer - is a short blocks from resinous coniferous breeds. Bottom - is more often fur-tree or pine plywood. The parquet board should be covered by varnish and impregnated with a mix of oil, wax and natural pitches. Figure of a surface depends on saw cut, therefore it can be homogeneous or with various knots and proveins. Modern technologies allow varying color of an initial material. So, stripping makes wood of a beech more sated; bleaching of an oak and a maple gives light, coldish tone; artificial “oldering” gives the noble deep shade to an oak, causing associations with palace parquet. As well as the piece parquet, a parquet board requires polishing of surfaces - then it can serve for more than twenty years.
Linoleum - is the natural material made of wood flour, pitch, a fuse, chalk and the linen oil, put on a fabric basis. It is durable (about twenty years), water-proof, scratches and dents resistant. However linoleum is complex in use, as it is rather fragile and bursts on bends.
Artificial (commercial) linoleum - is a multilayered covering from PVC. Owing to high durability, scratches and dents resistance (figure is put on all depth of a material), rotting resistance, small heat conductivity and a variety of figure artificial linoleum, it can be used both in houses, and in public premises.

Pith covering and mats (Part 2)

April 29th, 2007

Floor coverings are made of a fuse in the form of sandwiches (square or rectangular tiles). Pressed fuse is usually put inside of such sandwich. And here the top layer can be a miscellaneous:
- Decorative veneer, made of fuse, covered by a transparent polyvinyl or varnish film (owing to this covering the floor easily washes and does not draw a dust);
- Veneer, made of valuable breeds of wood (a cherry, a nut, an oak, etc.), and besides covered by a film;
- Only protective film.
A fuse is laid in the same way, as a laminate: it is pasted to a floor, or gathered in the “floating” way (as the designer - a thorn in a groove). The 10 years guarantee is given to the most qualitative fuse, on the average such floor can be used within 7 - 8 years.
Sisal is a covering spin from fibers of the American agaves (that of which do tequila). Sisal string is very strong - in olden time in South America was spun with ship ropes were made from it. Coverings from sisal with woolen strings are considered as the most qualitative ones. The wool gives softness to a mat, and such covering is almost not pricked. Average service life of a carpet is 5 years.
Reed grows on a bog. It is basically extracted in Southeast Asia. Mats from it are strong enough and can be used at least for 7 years.
Coco - This fiber is extracted from not ripened fruits: they are soaked in sea water, and then they are combed out. If you are offered too rigid carpets, this means that they are made not of fibers of a nut, and from pile of trunk - it is much rougher. The covering from a coco will serve for 7 years. The coco is not “afraid” of water; therefore it can be laid even in bathroom.
Jute -is a sort of bushes of family lime. From it the strongest mats (them recommend to lie at offices); besides to it at all dirty footwear and spots are made. It will serve for 7 years.
Rice straw ???????? is a mat from are more softly and are also thinner than the other materials. The average term of a life is 4 years.

Pith covering and mats (Part 1)

April 28th, 2007

The designers recommend the fans of healthy way of life to recollect about the most ancient floor coverings in their interior.
It would be desirable to lay on a floor something interesting, natural, and the main thing - original… Then look narrowly at the most ancient of all existing floor coverings - reed and a fuse trees. Today these materials are again in fashion: these materials are both adored by designers, and healthy way of life fans.
Fuse
That fuse which all of us have got used to pick out from a neck of a bottle, can use absolutely other service: to become an ideal floor. The Mediterranean is a native land of a fuse (a bark of pith oak). More than a half of world reserves of this material are concentrated in Portugal, the rest - in Algeria, Tunis, Morocco, and Spain. Portuguese guys long since upholstered with a fuse floor and walls of the dwellings. Later this fashion has removed to other European countries. The fuse has attracted the designers with the unique structure: it is porous and very elastic. The experts are assured that at any loading fuse amortizes pressure and comes back into the initial position. Therefore to pith floor does not suffer neither from artful female heels, nor from furniture legs.
Other advantage of such floor relies in the excellent sound insulation; no other material can be compared with the fuse. And still pith floors are useful for health. First of all, the fuse possesses orthopedic effect- it reduces loading by a backbone at walking. Secondly, it doesn????????t collect the dust and consequently approaches to allergists and to asthmatics.

Mosaic (Part 2)

April 27th, 2007

The sphere of mosaic????????s application is so wide, as well as its aesthetic opportunities are.???? Mosaic facing of pools, bathrooms, saunas and baths is considered as a recognized “classics of interior genre”. Perhaps, such furnish will ideally approach for damp premises - it is not only wear proof, but it can be also easily washed, repaired (it is easy to replace the damaged fragment). Besides also it also important that it is possible to rivet curvilinear surfaces, and present pools and bathrooms at times happen rather freakish forms with a mosaic.
Mosaic - is excellent means for underlining separate fragments of a facade of the house, entrance group. The mosaic floors, decorated by a complex multi-color pattern, look effectively. Everybody will agree, hardly who will leave indifferent refined mosaic “flowers” on parquet to a floor. If you don????????t have enough money for this, however you would like to give special charm to an interior - you may be limited to rather narrow elegant mosaic friezes. Now mosaic is used for window sills and working surfaces of kitchen tables furnishing. Do you want that your kitchen “played” with bright colors? There are no problems! Order usual case furniture with a table-top from a waterproof tree-fibrous plate and lay out a mosaic on it.
One more fashionable tendency - is to build figure on a vertical. For example, on a pure white background is decorated with juicy acid strings. In a vegetative ornament very thin figure now prevails. Magnificent flower compositions and greater panels remain gradually in the past. But there is popular a sea theme - small fishes, dolphins, cockleshells…
More and more admirers prefer ethnic style. And here east motives are most demanded now. The Japanese minimalism, reigning in furniture, has spread on a decor of walls, where greater planes of light grey shades revalue. Color scale of new collections of such mosaic - are the unostentatious grey-beige or gray-blue tone in the combination of dark brown, grey-dark blue and green accents.
