Intimate fashion (Part 1)

May 17th, 2007

Fashion for such thing, as sanitary technician, - is a very strange phenomenon. It is visible and invisible at the same time, it is important and it is so “modest”. Say honestly: do you look at the urgency of forms and colors at purchase of toilet bowl? We usually ignore this. More often you simply do not think of system of the choice. Actually visual images, taken from interior magazines, are kept you in a head, and are guided by them, when you are choosing sanitary technicians you.
Let’s classify what is really actual in the field of sanitary design.
We shall start from the color; therefore as white color is dominating. As the fashion on color scales in interiors, fabrics and finishing materials would vary, color sanitary technicians remains practically constant. It is offered to sate color scale of a bathroom in other ways - by using decorative illumination (or a bath with chrome therapy) or a tile. Sanitary technicians in a modern interior combine white color with contrast finishing materials on color. Till now anthracite and dark olive colors are actual. This scale emphasizes cleanliness and snow-white light, reveals beauty and laconism of forms sanitary technicians. The vanguard collections executed, for example, from fashionable material “Corian”, offer the sanitary technician not only white color, but also pink, orange and red colors. But, to tell the truth, such bright palette approaches not far to each person and requires very correct registration from surrounding space.
However, if to think, white color as the main stimulus for designers work - it enables to work with the form and to create rather architectural constructions. Yes-yes, don????????t be surprised, not only designers, but world famous architects also work above designing of separate sanitary elements and the whole collections. And, naturally, similar products of sanitary art possess the fine design flavored besides brand name of the architect. This moment also defines fashion: the sound name of the architect or the designer, who has created this or that collection of sanitary technicians, raises its rating.

Russian interior (Part 2)

May 16th, 2007

Only in XVII century various western innovations began to get into use of Russians, for example, these were the hobby for fabric or from an imprinted leather wall-papers, engravings and the painted cards in frames, wall mirrors (of superstition them originally did necessarily with closed shutters) and even pictures. But all this has not gained especially wide popularity and was more likely an attribute of known free-thinking among the nobility.
The basic furniture was wide bench, cut into wall during construction and served both for sitting, and for sleeping. Besides them in a room there were some benches of the simple form and the table, consisting from a goat with boards laid on them. Rooms were small on the size, with low, often vaulted, ceilings and small windows. Having jambs window frames, into which translucent mica plates were inserted, were considered as luxury. The house had a lot of transitions, corridors and narrow ladders hidden into the wall: as required the additional constructions connected to it covered transitions were attached to the basic building, and the level of floors often did not coincide.
The comfortable dwelling in Russian conditions first of all should be warm; therefore the main place was occupied by furnaces - painted on clay with bright paints or trimmed by different color tiles - green, terracotta or multi-color. Cracks in the house carefully closed up all a tow, doors and upholstered sites of walls were adjoining to windows cloth. Windows were never opened, about any airing had no concept and when it became stuffy, the air was refreshed with frankincense. In a greater mansion the system of hidden apertures - the prospirits provided natural ventilation - was arranged.
In rich houses benches were covered with velvet or tinsel cloth, large carpets were lying on the floor. In a corner of dining room family silver and different overseas souvenirs were placed on an eminence covered by red cloth: “a horn of unicorn”, greater nacreous bowls, “amusing figures” or something like this. Table was also covered with cloth atop of which expensive cloth was spread.

Russian interior (Part 1)

May 14th, 2007

The fashion for the Russian interior, occurred in 80th years, is still actual. It is characteristic, that many people, choosing for office modern design and houses prefer Russian national style.???? For understanding the sense of this type of interior it is necessary to recollect the history of Russian interior.
During many centuries fires remained the real disaster for Russia. Ancient city building was almost entirely wooden, and the casual spark of candle was enough for the fire. Besides down to the end of XV century a sad reality was aggravated by constant attacks of the Tatars, who plundered Russian cities and villages and withdrawn a chain of captives with them. Attacks, as a rule, were accompanied by fires. in XIV-XVI centuries Moscow burnt out almost completely on the average each seven years, and about small fires - on one street or quarter - it is not even worth of mentioning.
The life went in a mode of a constant pressure. It is natural, that the person who went to bed half-dressed and always kept the weapon near to the pillow, every minute expecting an alarm announcing a fire or invasion, had rather original, to our measures, representations about comfort and convenience. Russian interior - perhaps as any another in the world - has been noted by the compelled functionality.
Houses were basically built of tree: air in them was more chilly and healthier, and it was much easier to heat them. Even when the basic part of the house was stone, the top, inhabited floor was wooden. Walls, as a rule, left timbered. Only in very rich families and in a grand-ducal or imperial palace premises could be decorated with canvas or cloth, and smart halls were plastered and decorated with lists on religious plots or flower ornament.

Gypsum cardboard for your walls

May 13th, 2007

Gypsum cardboard-represents plaster sheets covered with a thin, but a strong cardboard. Their length is 2,5-3,5 m., width - 1,2-1,3 m., and thickness - 8-10 mm.
In order to cover concrete walls with gypsum cardboard, it is necessary to beat preliminary to a wall concrete nails a skeleton from wooden boards. Before the beginning of work it is necessary to count precisely the sizes of a skeleton: it is important, that in places of joints of sheets of dry plaster the width of skeleton????????s wood strips was not less than 7,5 cm.
Vertical boards or wood strips are nailed up to the wall in length of 7 - 10 sm. If it is difficult to punch wall, it is necessary to drill apertures and to insert fuses, and to hammer nails on distance of no more than 50 cm from each other. Nail down sheets of gypsum cardboard you the prepared skeleton so that between them there was a space in 4-5 mm for the subsequent furnish of seams.
You should remember that there is extra empty space between gypsum cardboard and a wall that creates additional heat insulation. But dry plaster is completely not obligatory for beating to a wooden skeleton, which is taking away so precious centimeters of the living space.
It is possible to paste sheets to a wall by means of the so-called plaster test-mastic, consisting of building plaster and 2 %-s’ solutions of bone glue (glue is necessary so that the plaster would not harden at same moment). Having prepared mastic, outline it on a wall by means of spittle within the limits of the size of the gypsum cardboard leaf on distance of 35 - 40 cm from each other.
Gypsum cardboard is the best basis under wall-papers.
On edges of a leaf mastic arrange with continuous bed. Press gypsum cardboard to a wall and knock on it, leveling a surface.
If you can finish any ledge, a junction of external seams should be glued with strips of a gauze and should be carefully puttied. It is possible to close external corners with wooden or plastic corners. Seams between sheets should be filled with the plaster test.

Building materials for ponds (Part 2)

May 12th, 2007

PVC film - the advantage of the given material that with its help it is possible to create a reservoir of any form and of any size. You should choose thickness of a film, considering depth and the size of the future pond. For ponds with the less than 15 m area and depth of no more than 0,7 m a film of 0,5 mm thickness is used. For reservoirs of the greater area and depth up to 1,5 m a film of 1 mm thickness should be used. The PVC film is steady against harmful influence of ultra-violet beams and negative temperatures. There are special glues for repair of PVC film and pasting of pieces among themselves. Service life of such film - is not less than 10 years.
At calculation try to consider the standard sizes of PVC film: width of a roll can be 4, 6 and 8 meters, length -???? 20-25 meters (in some cases it is better to change the size or the form of a reservoir, than to stick together the pieces).
Butyl rubber (EPDM membrane) - this material has the same advantages, as PVC, but it is much more strongly and more reliably. At the same time it is plastic enough and it is well stretched in all parties (as a matter of fact, it is the same rubber), it can be easily established within any time of the year irrespective of an ambient temperature. It ideally approaches for creation of reservoirs of the big size, with the big depth and on stony sites (certainly, it is possible to use this material for small ponds). Butyl rubber can be used for almost 10-30 years (depending on conditions of operation), it is possible to stick it together and to repair by means of special tapes and glues.
Butyl rubber is produced in rolls of 4,5; 6,1; 9,15; 12,20 and 15,25 m. width.
It is necessary to remember that despite of high durability, butyl film is not protected from damages. Danger of damage can be hidden in sharp stones in a ground or rodents. No matter what flexible insulating cover you would choose it is better to protect it by means of a no woven material (geotextiles) which does not decay in the ground and protects an insulating cover from damages.???? The sand can be also used as the spreading material. It also approaches for covering of a reservoir bottom. Similarly to isolating materials, spreading coverings have various thicknesses.????
In this article we have tried to tell what we know about materials for construction of ponds.

Building materials for ponds (Part 1)

May 11th, 2007

For creation of reservoir use the materials, especially intended for these purposes, and then you can fill it with plants and fish. There are flexible insulating covers and rigid forms (the given materials are not toxic). They differ by service life, installation technology (stacking) and further operation.

Polythene ponds are intended for creation of a decorative reservoir of the small size and volume (130 - 900 l.), thus capacities on 600-900 liters have basically the extended form. Rigid forms from plastic are easily established, are steady against harmful influence of ultra-violet beams and negative temperatures. The exploitation term of such ponds is more than 10 years, but it is necessary to remember that the service life of such ponds, that at damage of sides or a bottom (for example, at transportation or installation) it will not be possible to stick a crack any more. Such ponds are produced by the world known manufacturers- Heissner, G&F (Germany) and some others. It is possible to carry non-uniform thickness to lacks of sides.????

Fibreglass ponds have appeared rather recently though the material has been known for a long time. Owing to the durability and the flexible “know-how”, fibreglass composit materials have found application in different areas of techniques and the industry for a long time. Cases of boats, details of cars, various constructions in aqua parks (artificial rocks, hills), huge variety of souvenir and decorative production - here is far not the full list of spheres, where fibreglass is practically irreplaceable. Certainly, it was strange, if manufacturers of ponds have not paid the attention to this material.
Fibreglass ponds are more expensive, than from traditional polythene, but they can be easily repaired (thus term of their exploitation-30 years- does not decrease). They are steadier against harmful influence of ultra-violet beams and negative temperatures. One more advantage of fibroglass ponds relies in the opportunity of their manufacturing of different colors (green, brown, black). The Most important attractive feature of such ponds, in our opinion, - is an opportunity of drawing on edges of a strong decorative covering from natural materials that removes a problem of masking of ponds???????? boards. Such covering is put during the manufacture, it is not showered, and it does not burn out on the sun and allows entering a pond into surrounding landscape.

Door handles. Furniture accessories

May 10th, 2007

Door handles is a very important detail of the decor, capable affect essentially on sales volume of that furniture to which it serves.
Quite often furniture collections differ one from another only by door handles. From all spectrum of furniture accessories it most a subject familiar to us to which we adjoin constantly, several times per day, opening a table, a case, a locker… It is worth of mentioning that it is only the designer, who should think up the form, color, a material for the door handle.
Metal and tree… cold, lifeless metal and a warm, alive tree - eternal competitors in struggle for popularity, but they are the best friends in design development. Metal has always attracted designers with the shine, not allowing dozing imaginations. And the designers experimented pleasure, painting its surface, covering with its gold or polishing it carefully. The photogenic nature of tree is also worth of attention. Not casually wood of cherry, nut and beech became one of the most ordinary materials.
According to practice, recently many people have showed their taste to tactile sensations- the desire to take pleasure not only from contemplation, but also from a touch. Owing to this the demand for handles from leather and fabrics has increased. They are, certainly, less practical, but they are very convenient and original.
Those who have got used to follow fashion, the designers offer door handles from Moravian glass and the painted plastic. Plastic - is the great actor. It is capable to simulate the structure of leather, tree or paper. Glass can????????t be used for this purpose. Nevertheless, glass doesn????????t need it at all; its main function is to emphasize grace of subject.
It is possible to regard door handles as last design novelties from chloroplast, painted in bright acid colors.
Use of a furniture accessories - is uneasy and risky business. In fact as the door handle is fine, it first of all should get used to a furniture image.
Do not decorate the furniture, as if a fur-tree. Each interior subject should look stylishly, instead of “over decorated”.????

Feng shui for children’s room

May 8th, 2007

The first half of house from a front entrance, where more active the energy is shown, connected with movement and growth, would be the most desirable place for the arrangement of children????????s room. But each concrete case has its own nuances.
Misbalance in the level of color of walls and furniture can negatively reflect on mental and, as consequence, a physical state of the child. For example, if the children????????s room is sustained in blue tones or, on the contrary, in pink. But each color has the vibration, a wave which enters a resonance with an organism of the child. So, blue color supports kidneys, pink - heart. That all bodies and systems of a children’s organism got harmonious support from the outside, a color variety is necessary. Hardly its absence will cause illness, but can aggravate already available problem.
If the child is older, it is necessary to allow the child to organize independently the space according to his own taste, in fact very often children appear hostages of expensive furniture or aesthetic tastes of their parents.
One room can approach more for a dream, and another one - for the activity: games or study. Sometimes it happens so, that both criterias are combined in one room. Certainly, if there is an opportunity to pick up to the child two functionally different rooms, it would be really the ideal situation. However even in a country house not each family has such opportunity. So, the main task of feng shui is to find the conciliatory proposal in any situation.
The ideal place for study - is when the child is sitting a back to a wall and a table is before him. Thus the child feels confidently and easy. All room and a door are in a zone of child????????s control. Child does not worry that adults can find him unawares. Such freedom allows concentrating.
The place of study will be even more comfortable if the child has a support from the left party: this party is weaker and a heart is located here. No sharp corners of cases or shelves should be directed on the child. The greater mistake - is to set the table directly at a window with the purpose to receive more natural light. The child will see how other children play football and the child would have no desire to study.
Depending on an arrangement of a room concerning the parties of light the feng shui expert can see, what qualities strengthen different directions. Some of them promote display of creative talents, others- studies, successful passing of examinations, etc.

Quartz wall-papers

May 5th, 2007

Quartz wall-papers represent wall-papers on a non-woven basis with the painted quartz sand or a wood fiber top layer. It is a decorating material without the synthetic components, made of natural products, therefore they are ecologically pure, and also possess a high degree of fire resistance.
Quartz wall-papers can be painted with any latex paint and if necessary to be recolor in any other color, having received thus desirable effect. Durability of wall-papers allows to hide defects of a wall (cracks, etc.), to provide exclusive stability to fretting and to mechanical damages.
